Wycliffe USA
Wycliffe USA
Wycliffe USA is working to bring the Word of God to Bibleless communities around the globe. Wycliffe launched The Seed Company in 1993 to accelerate this process.
Wycliffe USA’s members are committed to making God’s Word available to the last languages that need it, partnering with individuals and churches in the United States to get the job done. Members receive guidance, training and support through Wycliffe as they move into ministry.
William Cameron Townsend founded Wycliffe in 1942. Townsend had caught the vision for translation during missionary service in Guatemala. Cakchiquel speakers told him the Bible was not available in their language, and they couldn’t understand Spanish well. Townsend resolved that every person should be able to read God’s Word in his own language.
Since that time, Wycliffe has made great progress in worldwide Bible translation. To date, Wycliffe has played a part in completing more than 781 Scripture translations.
