Yambetta people of Cameroon
The world around him painted a dismal picture of marriage for Yambetta translator Raoul. Husbands lacked respect and responsibil¬ity; they were often violent and abusive. And wives didn’t submit to their husbands.
Raoul discovered that God’s plan for marriage was far removed from what he saw. He read in Ephesians 5:21-23, 25: “And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord, because a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church … As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything.”
Raoul read these words and put them into practice. Now, his marriage has become a shining example to others in the village. People even ask him to help restore peace to households that are having a difficult time!
-
Praise God for Raoul and his wife’s shining example of a strong marriage built on Christ. Pray others will follow their lead, coming to Christ.
-
Ask God to open a door in the Kiboum community where translators hope to start a literacy class.
-
Pray that God will open the ears of the Yambetta people, so they will believe His Word when it’s translated for them.
