Ubangi New Testament Cluster of Dem Rep Congo

The Ubangi cluster are in 3 language groups. Catholic and Evangelical churches have been active in all three language communities for several decades. While a large percentage of the people claim to be Christians, many of them continue to follow traditional animistic rituals at the same time. Well-educated Ngbandi-Ngiri, Mono and Pagabete translators will work together to produce first drafts, check each other’s drafts and plan and evaluate their projects. The translators aim to complete the three New Testaments with Old Testament portions by July 2013. The Scriptures in these three languages have the potential to reach the Mono, Ngbandi-Ngiri and Pagabete people in a way that nothing else can.

  • Pray for Mono translator Marie’s health as she endeavors to catch up on her translation work while she copes with her physical affliction. And pray for typist Renekuzu who is hampered by electricity failures. Pray for reliable electricity so that Renekuzu can type the Scripture drafts.

  • Pray for the Ngbandi-Ngiri team as they’re in the final stages of planning a seminar on how to produce the readers’ guide, which is designed to promote mother-tongue literacy. Pray that remaining obstacles can be overcome and the task finished.

  • The Pagabete team had opportunities to be trained by consultants on the use of the computer application Paratext. Pray for proper functioning of the team’s technical equipment. Pray that needed parts can be quickly obtained.
