Suryoyo of East Mediterranean

The half million Suryoyo speakers take pride in their long Christian history. They have a Bible called the Peshitta that dates back thousands of years. But although they revere the Word of God, the language of the Peshitta is no longer understandable. Praise God that in 2009, they received the New Testament in their modern mother tongue. Many of them have seen the “JESUS” film, also recently published.

Now the translation team is working to complete the Old Testament by 2017, after starting in 2009.

  • Pray that the audio recording of Psalms will reach many for Christ.

  • Pray for encouragement and strengthening for the team as they gear up to translate Genesis next.

  • Praise God the people now have the New Testament, as of last year! Pray for a revival as people dig into the Word.
