Suba of Kenya
Most of the Suba live on the islands and shores of Lake Victoria in Southwest Kenya. Many still practice the traditional religions involving ancestral spirit worship. The people are ripe and ready to receive God’s Word. Newer churches with Suba pastors are experiencing much growth as they conduct their worship in Suba. More and more Suba people are becoming Christians and taking hold of the task of pastoring and teaching in their own language.

The Gospel of Luke underwent a thorough two-week check by the local Scripture reviewers’ committee, as planned. A total of twenty-five reviewers gathered with the team to go over the book verse by verse. Thank the Lord for the commitment and sacrificial service of these local Scripture reviewers to help improve the quality of the translation.

Four epistles are in the pipeline: Ephesians, Hebrews and 1 & 2 Corinthians. Praise God that these vital books of Scripture are being brought up to good quality.

A local church organized an evangelistic outreach in Yokia village recently in cooperation with the Suba Pastors’ Association. Such venues present opportunities for implementing the Suba Scriptures that are already available and pave the way for the local communities to accept and use the NT when it’s published.

Translator Naphtaly writes: “Translating the Bible has had a great impact on our own lives as translators. We always feel as though the Lord is translating our lives into those that can represent Him here on earth in a way that’s ACCURATE, CLEAR AND NATURAL. These three words, which are the foundation stones in translating Scripture, have become standards of living for us.” Praise God for this impact!
