Suba of Kenya

90,000 people on the islands and shore of Lake Victoria. Most of the Suba live on the islands and shores of Lake Victoria in Southwest Kenya. Many still practice the traditional religions involving ancestral spirit worship. The people are ripe and ready to receive God’s Word. Newer churches with Suba pastors are experiencing much growth as they conduct their worship in Suba. More and more Suba people are becoming Christians and taking hold of the task of pastoring and teaching in their own language. Project fully partnered.

  • The whole Suba New Testament has now been done in first draft. Thank the Lord that the entire New Testament has been translated into Suba. Pray that the short but dynamic book of Ephesians will speak volumes to people as it is being tested.
  • Naphtaly is currently getting the remarkable book of Hebrews ready for an assessment by the consultant. Pray that the team’s labors on 1 and 2 Corinthians, Hebrews and Revelation, books that stretch their abilities, will be accompanied by God’s grace and empowering.
  • Praise God that the Suba literacy initiative hasn’t been dampened by forces threatening it from within and without. Pray that the Lord will keep His workers’ hearts aflame to help Suba people learn to read effortlessly in their own language so that they’ll be equipped to use God’s vernacular Word.
