Sena of Mozambique

Project fully funded! The church continues to grow rapidly, but believers in every denomination mix Christianity with their traditional religion. This is understandable; because the Bible is not available in the local language and pastors, who do not understand the Portuguese translation very well, often misunderstand cultural issues and biblical doctrines.

  • Praise God for the good translation progress that the Sena team is making on these key books, Genesis and the Epistles. Pray that the Lord will convey His truth in a meaningful way through His Word in the local people’s heart tongue.
  • Pray that the vernacular Scriptures will communicate God’s Word idiomatically, dynamically and with cultural sensitivity to the native speakers.
  • The team has already finished producing some Bible storybooks and other materials to start a library for new readers. Pray that many Sena people will learn to read and write as a result of this literacy thrust. Pray for greater eagerness in the local community for using the Scriptures.
