Prayer Focus

Seed Company Prayer for Monday

The 1,500 Aché speakers live as hunter-gatherers in southeastern Paraguay.  About 10 to 40 percent of the Aché population are Christians; however, many hold onto animistic beliefs. Most cannot clearly understand the national languages and find it hard to read and understand the Bible. A Paraguayan couple with extensive linguistic and theological training has moved into an Aché community to begin learning the language. They plan to train six mother-tongue translators to be co-workers in the project as they begin working on the Gospel of Luke. They will also train 30 people from Aché communities to be literacy teachers. They hope that through the translation of the Scriptures, the Aché people will grow spiritually as they understand the Word of God.

Recently, 1000 test copies of Luke’s Gospel were published and delivered to all six Aché communities.

  • Pray that the Lord will grant strength and encouragement to the translators as they go into Aché homes to read and discuss how to make their draft of Luke better
  • Pray for a just and peaceful resolution for the people in the Aché community of Chupa Pou, who have been falsely accused of deforestation of the land.
  • Thank the Lord that His Word in Aché is speaking clearly and compellingly to native speakers.
