San Pedro of Mexico
The San Pedro people live in small towns between the mountains and coastlands of Central Mexico. Most of the people are fishermen or farmers. Though Catholicism is widespread, it is often mixed with spirit worship and shamanism. Many people in the countryside cannot sufficiently understand Spanish and need the Scriptures in their own language. Benito, a mother tongue translator, has taken initiative to translate the New Testament into the San Pedro language. Using a computer adaptation program, Benito will be able to create a rough draft of the San Pedro Scriptures from a Bible translation.

Benito has made corrections to Matthew and John, so now 60 percent of the New Testament (Matthew through Acts) has received a revision. Praise God for this progress.

Benito received training in the Toolbox computer program, — a big help to him. But he feels frustrated when the computer doesn’t function properly. Recently the hard drive had a virus and other problems. Pray he won’t get discouraged.

Benito pastors a small but growing church (now up to 70). Pray that someone will take over leadership of this church so that Benito can devote his full attention to the translation work.
