San Pedro of Mexico

11,000 people living between the mountains and coastlands of Mexico. Though Catholicism is widespread, it is often mixed with spirit worship and shamanism. Many people in the countryside cannot sufficiently understand Spanish and need the Scriptures in their own language. A mother tongue translator has taken initiative to translate the New Testament into the San Pedro language. Using a computer adaptation program, he will be able to create a rough draft of the San Pedro Scriptures from a Bible translation in a related language. Project is fully funded but needs prayer partners.

  • The home church that the translator started has been meeting in his house, but now it has grown to the point where they can no longer meet inside. Thank the Lord that the house church has thus expanded. Praise Him for the moving of His Spirit in the growth of the local body of San Pedro believers.
  • As New Testament revision work proceeds, San Pedro speakers in the community have been assisting the translator as he carefully goes over Scripture. Pray for him to get good input.
  • Pray that God will continue to provide a corps of dedicated workers to come alongside the San Pedro team at this critical time in the translation project.
  • Pray that the Lord will give the San Pedro team the wisdom and patience they need to accomplish their task, leading to a faithful and clear final translation.
