Roviana Speakers of the Solomon Islands

Once well-known headhunters who raided neighboring islands — the Roviana were the first to convert to Christianity when missionaries came to the region in 1902. A majority consider themselves Christian. Major church groups here eagerly desire support to complete their final translation steps for the already drafted OT. The team will finish the remaining steps and are confident it will lay a good foundation for their NT, which has been sold out for many years. Completion of this project in three years will also provide a source translation to adapt for a number of other closely related languages in the region.

  • Praise the Lord for the desire of the major church groups in the Solomon Islands to support the final steps of this already drafted OT.
  • Pray for spiritual vitality of the project workers who hope to complete the OT in short order and lead into their update and reprinting of the NT.
  • Pray for wisdom and insight as the translators work to finish the OT. May there be smooth coordination of technical details.
