Priau of South Asia
The Priau people are traditionally animistic spirit worshipers, but the national religion also influences their culture and beliefs. Foreign missionaries worked among the Priau people about 75 years ago, but many people fell away from the faith because they didn’t have the Bible in the Priau language. When national missionaries began working in 1998, they started with an emphasis on Bible translation. Now there are about 1,500 Priau believers who are strong in the faith amidst opposition and have seen miracles of healing. The Priau church urgently needs help translating the Word of God in their language.
