Paze of SE Asia
20,000 Paze people inhabit a mountainous region of Southeast Asia that straddles two countries. Christian missionaries came to the Paze region about 80 years ago, and many Paze accepted Christ at that time. Today almost 95 percent of the Paze call themselves Christian and only about five percent of the people practice the traditional animistic religion. Because the political situation within the country is volatile, the homeland area is no longer accessible to foreigners. Five denominations have established churches in the Paze area, but growth in Biblical understanding has been hampered by the lack of Scripture in their language. Project Goal: New Testament plus Old Testament portions.
- Pray that the Paze team can significantly enhance the NT translation as it goes through various final checks.
- Continue to pray for the translators as they work out an agreement with the Bible Society to publish the Paze NT and Genesis.
- Pray that local people will be on the alert to make even the smallest corrections and pray that God will give Mr. Kaz discernment as he picks and chooses which suggestions from native speakers he’ll use when revising the translation.
- On his travels to Paze villages, Mr. Kaz experienced a couple of mishaps that could have been tragic. Praise God for His merciful watch care over him on his trip.
