Mbandja of DRC
In 1996, years of hard work resulted in the Mbandja New Testament that many use today. Today the Mbandja team is hard at work on the Old Testament because the Mbandja way of life corresponds very closely to that of the Old Testament and church leaders feel that the stories will minister to the people in a unique way. The team has used a computer program called CARLA (Computer Assisted Related Language Adaptation) to help them produce a reference draft of the Old Testament based on the completed translation in a related language.

The Mbandja team recently met with consultant, who devoted two months to reviewing Leviticus and the rest of 1 and 2 Samuel with them. Thank the Lord that the consultant was able to lead a one-day workshop on harmonizing the translated books on all the team’s computers and discussing the remaining work.

The team eagerly anticipates United Bible Society consultants coming from Nairobi to check more than 25 translated books and formally approve them for publication. Pray that the Lord will guide the partners involved in this project to determine the way forward to complete the translation, publication and dedication of the Mbandja Scriptures.
