Manmal of SE Asia

Translators from four language groups working together to bring God’s word to more than two million people in South East Asia. The 4 languages are Jomana, Nune, Wolola and Kokoan. Strong political and religious opposition during the last few years has hampered Bible translation into many languages of South East Asia. Now, however, God has raised up mother-tongue translators willing to step out in faith to bring this dream to fulfillment. Leaders at a large Christian university, together with leaders of several major denominations in the region, have indicated their readiness to assist in this project.

  • Nearly all copies of Kokoan Acts have since been distributed to local churches and homes. 1,000 copies of the Wolola hymnbook are also circulating. Pray that the Wolola and Kokoan churches will grow strong in their faith as they read about the exploits of the early Christians in the book of Acts.

  • Pray that the Joseph story in Genesis, Jonah, Mark’s Gospel and Acts in the Jomana language will challenge mother-tongue speakers to follow the Lord.

  • The team made back-translations of the 5 “T” books. Pray that feedback from testing and checking will improve the Wolola translation.
