Majukayong of Philippines

The majority of Majukayong speakers are small-scale farmers who subsist by wet rice farming and the slash-and-burn method of farming. The people are hospitable and peace loving, but they can be fierce fighters when they are provoked. They hold revenge as a high cultural value and feel humiliated if they are not able to avenge hurts or deaths. The Majukayong live according to a syncretistic mix of “Christian” ritual and animism.

  • Praise God that Luke’s Gospel is on its way to being ready to place in Majukayong people’s hands.

  • Pray that the team will soon complete their revision of Romans. Pray for him as he works with the team to help them improve their skills in translation.

  • Pray that the team and consultants will continue to keep alert to places in the translation that are easily open to misunderstanding. Pray that the Lord will direct the translators as they seek ways to change the words where necessary so that the true meaning is clearly conveyed.
