Lugungu of Uganda
About 50,000 Bagungu people speak the Lugungu language. A small percentage attends the local Anglican or Catholic churches. Still few have experienced being truly transformed by the gospel.
James Mbabazi is a secondary school teacher and a committed Christian who saw the need for the Bible in Lugungu and now serves as project leader and translator. James and the other translators are drafting the New Testament and portions of the Old Testament into Lugungu. They are also translating the script for the “JESUS” film. They aim to finish this year.
