Kurok of South Asia
478,000 people in a tightly knit society open to receiving God’s Word. The Kurok people have a positive attitude towards their own language. There is high motivation among the Kurok to read and write their language. Currently only portions of the New Testament are available. A couple move moved from their home area in the same country to plant churches among the Kurok people 10 years ago. In 2002, they saw the great benefits of Bible translation and changed their focus to Bible translation. Now, with specialized training, they’re ready to continue work.
-
Praise God that the Kurok team was able recently to complete some of their more pressing translation tasks. Pray for a consistent provision of consultants so that there won’t be a backlog of translated Scripture needing to be checked and approved.
-
Keep praying that couple’s three daughters will study well at school to be prepared for what the Lord has in store for their future.
-
Pray that the Lord will give the Christians humility and grace in dealing with their non-believing neighbors. Pray that He’ll guard them against critical, angry legalism.
