Jenjo of Nigeria

15,000 Nigerian people for whom literacy and development programs will facilitate Scripture use, foster revival and fuel evangelism. The Good News first came to the Jenjo through missionaries in the 1940s. Today, about 35% claim faith in Christ. Eight Christian denominations have established work among the Jenjo. About 10% follow another major world religion while the rest practice traditional animistic beliefs. Local churches have agreed to cooperate together in the project.

  • Pray that God will supply a computer and additional personnel to assist in the smooth running of the translation project.

  • Training qualified local people in basic translation principles is underway. Pray that the Lord will guide the team to people of His choosing to join the project. Pray that the team will be enthusiastic about the translation effort and be devoted to it.

  • Please ask the Lord that He will lead many Jenjo people to participate in literacy classes so they can make the most of the coming New Testament.
