Teachers tell Bible stories and children memorize verses and sing songs in Hua!
Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are all parts of his same body, and each of us has different work to do. And since we are all one body in Christ, we belong to each other, and each of us needs all the others. (Romans 12:4-5, NLT)
Hua Christians struggle in a society where other religions dominate. In recent years they’ve come under attack from the major religion. The Church needs to grow and mature to face the onslaught of these threats and evangelize with the message of truth and hope. For that to happen, they need the Old Testament to supplement their understanding of the New Testament. All the copies of the Hua New Testament, published in 2000, have been sold. The team plans a second printing; but in addition, pastors and church leaders have requested the Old Testament. They’d like to have Psalms first, since much of their liturgy uses that book. They want their congregations to engage with God as David did, and to become a people “after God’s own heart.”
- Two local women came to the largest Hua village and introduced a new creative method of teaching Sunday school children. After five days of training the teachers were able to tell Bible stories in the local language. The children also did Bible verse memorization and sang songs in the local language. Praise the Lord the teachers also can now pray in the mother tongue.
- Thank the Lord that the consultant check of Exodus Chapters 1-5 and comprehension testing of Psalm 51-75 have been completed. Pray for the team check and commu¬nity testing of the rest of Exodus and Psalms. Praise God for health and strength from God for the facilitator and consultant and each member of the team. May God continue His blessings upon their lives.
- Thank the Lord that distribution of almost all 200 copies of the Hua liturgy book for use in local church services has taken place and that the “JESUS” film accompanied by Hua worship songs in VCD format has now been shown in every Hua village.
