Prayer Focus Stories

Helong of Timor

20,000 speakers, predominately Christian farmers who desire to worship God in their language. They live in isolated villages on the island of Timor and on the smaller island of Semau in the Timor region of Indonesia. In many ways they still follow their traditional practices and have retained their language. God has called a well-educated Helong speaking pastor to be the primary translator, along with other pastors who have been released by their churches to help translate on a part-time basis. They plan to translate the New Testament and Genesis. Project Fully Funded!

  • Pray for wisdom and understanding as the team works together to draft the lofty concepts expressed by the Apostle John. Pray for creativity and grace as they seek to translate the meaning and not just the words.

  • Pray that the team will soon be able to schedule community comprehension testing for Romans and 2 Corinthians. Praise the Lord for the new office facility and for the advantages of working there and interacting with other teams.

  • Thank the Lord for the enthusiasm for worshipping God in their own language. Pray that God will use translated Scripture for His purposes in people’s lives.
