Guan of South Asia

The Guan people have lived as shepherds for hundreds of years. Nearly all practice the traditional religion of their country. They value their language and want to see literature in their mother tongue. This interest opened the door for a translation team to move into the area in January 1998. The husband-and-wife team began learning the Guan language, but at that time, they didn’t know of even one Guan Christian. Since then, they’ve discovered a handful of Guan believers. These Christians are helping them with the translation project, and they’ve begun drafting parts of the New Testament.

  • Pray that needed improvements can be made to the epistles and Luke as the team takes them through the steps. Pray for the successful printing of Mark.

  • Pray for good health and strength for the team, as it seems that one or another of the members is always falling ill, hindering the progress of the work.

  • The couple assisted in preparing the training manual. They also helped with the training sessions. Pray that the Lord will enable the participants at this course to apply what they learned as they work in their respective languages.
