Gofa, Gamo and Dawro of Ethiopia

More than one million people speak the Gofa, Gamo or Dawro languages. The languages are similar, but warrant separate Bible translations. Starting in 2004, Gofa, Gamo and Dawro translators formed a team, and today three New Testament translations are just about to be published! But the work does not stop there - translators are already drafting Old Testament books, with plans to complete the entire Old Testament in 2013. The local churches have fueled this entire effort and have sought partnership with other key organizations, Word for the World and Campus Crusade for Christ.

  • Praise God that the Gofa, Gamo and Dawro New Testaments are close to being printed.

  • Pray against the Enemy’s attacks during this critical final stage.

  • Pray that as the Gamo, Gofa and Dawro people read and hear God’s Word in their own languages, they’ll respond to His grace with open hearts.
