Gombe of Nigeria
300,00 speakers of 10 languages. Initial Goal — The Gospel of Luke, the JESUS film script, Old and New Testament Scripture booklets for 10 language groups. Translation teams receive training and compare notes at regular workshops and then take their translation work back to the community for testing. The workshops are exciting events where the translators can focus on the work and receive encouragement from other teams. Several of our TSC consultants work with them. The project started with 7 languages but when other language groups heard about it they wanted to join. So now 10 groups are participating. Seed Company consultants will visit the area to hold a series of workshops in Gombe State. These will provide training and technical support to the 10 translation teams. Today 40% of the target groups are at least nominally Christian, participating in one of a number of denominations.
- The nine teams attended the eleventh and final workshop of the Luke Partnership in January and achieved many of their goals. Praise God for all that was accomplished and ask Him to keep them on track to finish
- Luke’s Gospel is ready to publish soon in print and audio format after a final round of testing with other speakers. Pray that there will be good feed back so their work is clear and understandable.
- 7 of the language groups are ready to begin dubbing the JESUS Film. Pray for good selection to speak the parts and pray that the end result will draw many to our Lord as it is shown.
- Pray that the translators will bring this phase of the work to a good completion. Pray that there’ll be eternal results as the Holy Spirit works through His Word.
