Four Kru languages of Cote d'Ivoire
After a grave civil war in 2002, many people of this nation still feel tense, suspicious and bitter, yet at the same time, yearn for peace and reconciliation. What can bring them to that place? Nothing but the blood of Jesus, as the song goes. In fact, music is a very powerful medium among the Kru people, where literacy is low and people prefer songs and orally told stories. So national translators are completing all four Gospels in four Kru languages, with plans to also set the mother-tongue Scriptures to song.
This project started just last year and completion is set for this year in 2010.
-
Praise God for strong evidence of the power of His Word, when a village elder recently came to Christ through the translated Scriptures.
-
Pray for the safety of the translators’ families as they persevere in faith.
-
Pray that God will reap a great harvest among the 600,000 Kru people.
