Enula of Southeast Asia

Until 1920, the Enula people were known as fierce warriors. But then something dramatic occurred. When foreign missionaries came to share the gospel, a powerful Enula leader decided to accept Christ as Lord of his life. And through his influence, the entire group chose to become Christians.

Today there are 26 churches in the Enula-speaking area. Yet those churches operate without Scriptures in the mother tongue—that is, until recently. Enula translators are now translating the New Testament and portions of the Old Testament, planning to finish in 2012.

One pastor said, “When I speak the message in the Enula language on Sundays, the congregation becomes quiet—not noisy and not sleeping—and they pay attention.”

  • Pray for the consultant who will review drafted Scriptures in July.

  • Pray for good communication between the consultant and the translators. They must use different kinds of technology to connect across a vast distance.
