Daily Prayer: the San Pedro people of Mexico

The San Pedro people live in small towns between the mountains and coastlands of Central Mexico. Most of the people are fishermen or farmers. Though Catholicism is widespread, it is often mixed with spirit worship and shamanism. Many people in the countryside cannot sufficiently understand Spanish and need the Scriptures in their own language.

Benito, a mother tongue translator, has taken initiative to translate the New Testament into the San Pedro language. Using a computer adaptation program, Benito is hard at work on this New Testament translation for his people.

  • Benito has been busy reviewing his draft of the San Pedro New Testament with church members.
  • Pray that the Lord will give the team special discernment to determine what changes to make to the translation.
  • Pray that Benito can sharpen his translation and computer skills to ensure a final product that’s largely unaffected by his individuality and faithful to the original meaning.
