Daily Prayer: the Ragar people of India

Bible translation began in 1981 with a dedicated single woman. Over the years as others have joined her, they translated 50 percent of the New Testament in spite of opposition. Momentum is increasing as a young Ragar couple now plans to join the translation team. The team has ambitious plans for Scripture use and literacy development. Although the few Ragar believers are persecuted, they still stand strong in the midst of suffering.

  • The translators took their drafts of Galatians and Ephesians to villages to do comprehension testing of the translation with local people, as planned. Pray that Ragar people will offer good feedback during testing sessions.
  • The goal of all Scripture revision and review work is to make certain that the translation is accurate and natural. That is, it needs to be true to the original Greek and yet also be idiomatic and dynamic so that it sounds as if it had been originally written in Ragar.
  • They hope to complete their review work in the next few months. Pray that it will be acceptable to all. Continue to pray that God will direct the Ragar team to the best words for translating key theological concepts
