Daily Prayer: the Priau people of India

forest people are traditionally animistic spirit worshippers, but the national religion also influences their culture and beliefs. Outsiders often exploit the Priau people because of their inability to read or write. Foreign missionaries worked among the Priau people about 75 years ago, but many people fell away from the faith because they didn’t have the Bible in the Priau language Now there are a small group of Priau believers who are strong in the faith amidst opposition and have seen miracles of healing. The Priau church urgently needs help translating the Word of God in their language.

  • The translators showed the JESUS film eight times in five different Priau villages. They were intrigued hearing Jesus speak their language. Pray that many will come to know Christ through the JESUS film.
  • The team conducted training for local believers to teach Vacation Bible School (VBS) classes. These new teachers then taught a total of 200 children. Pray that many children will come to know Christ and the teachers grow in their faith.
  • The main translator was recently summoned to the office of a high-ranking government official, who told them they weren’t welcome in the village, claiming that no one of his religion could tolerate their activities. But in the end they were told. “You must obtain a letter from a higher official about your work and produce it in this office and we’ll decide about you.” Pray for the Priau team as they work above the undercurrent of official hostility,
