Daily Prayer: the Logo people of DRC
The Logo people are located primarily in the northeastern corner of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), formerly known as Zaire. Logos people support themselves through subsistence farming and hunting, as well as raising goats and chickens. Protestant and Catholic churches operate the few hospitals and schools that exist. Civil war has taken its toll on the daily life of the Logos, who lack food and other daily needs, including spiritual ones
Civil war has made it impossible for expatriates to live in DRC, so the Logo people continued on their own, with occasional consulting help. They have demonstrated spiritual maturity and deep commitment to the project even through severe trials. At least ten times they have left their families and bicycled 170 miles round-trip for project meetings held in Arua, Uganda because it was unsafe to meet in DRC.
- The Logo team has received the completed DVD version of the JESUS film. They look forward to distributing this and watching God work as people see the words and works of Jesus visually portrayed before their eyes in their own heart language. Praise God that the JESUS film is nearly ready to go forth into the Logo community. Pray that it will have a powerful effect on its viewers.
- An email system has been set up ifor the Logo team. But there are still communication problems to be resolved. The Logo team is one of the most isolated language teams, mainly because no cell phone access has been established in the region. The local cell phone provider was conducting a survey regarding possible future service, which would be a huge help for the Logo team. Pray this will be possible soon.
