Daily Prayer: the Las Flores people of Mexico
A sense of pride pervades the Las Flores community. The people value their language and have a healthy sense of self-esteem. There has been a variety of Christian influences in the area since the 1930s. And recently one group of believers told their priest “We need the Bible in our own language."
This project is being headed by a 30-year-old Christian man who is fluent in his own language and Spanish. It was during his time in the army in Mexico City that he was presented with the Gospel and decided to commit his life to Christ. He is now working full time on the project. The translated book of Jonah was the first book ever printed in their language. Believers and unbelievers alike are amazed to see their language written.
- The Las Flores team is fast approaching the goal of getting the mother-tongue Scriptures into the hands of their people. They passed a major milestone recently when Gulmaro finished translating the entire New Testament in first draft.
- A lot of checking and testing needs to be done before the New Testament is printed. Pray for God’s guidance and oversight of the whole process.
