Daily Prayer: the Julam people of India
The estimated 50,000 speakers of this language practice a traditional religion attributing power to the spirits they believe control their lives. In 1981, an evangelist from a different language group introduced them to the gospel, and 20 people became believers. They recognize they need a translation in their language. A husband and wife team from the same country have committed to translating God’s Word for the Julam people.
- The team is doing the final polishing of Mark’s Gospel and several shorter epistles in order to print a trial edition for distribution. Pray that they will get this done, printed, and in people’s hands soon.
- The Julam believers are being socially boycotted because they refuse to join in the rituals connected with family burials. Pray they hold fast to their faith and have the wisdom to know how to relate to funerals in their culture.
