Daily Prayer: the Irigwe people of Nigeria

The Irigwe people first heard about God’s love in the 1900s with the arrival of missionaries that communicated in the main regional language. God used these messengers in significant ways and now 50 percent of the Irigwe people claim to follow Christ.

Many people still know very little about God though. Two previous translation attempts failed and Irigwe women and the poor often lack the training to read the Bible in other languages. The people who God regularly speaks of caring for, the disadvantaged and the poor, remain separated from God’s truths of hope, love and joy. The Nigeria Bible Translation Trust is eager to see their fellow Nigerians succeed this time and a partnership between their motivated team, the local church and supporters in the US is already at work.

  • Praise God for the motor cycle given to the project by Seed Company. It has been of tremendous help to the project. Pray that God will protect them whenever they ride on it to carry out the activities of the project.
  • Pray, that God will continue to guide and strengthen members of the translation team to actualize the goals for this year. We wish to complete work on Matthew, Mark, John, Acts, and Jonah, including consultant checking. Pray that there will be consultants to check by November-December this year.
