Daily Prayer: the Girondo people of India
The Girondo people have been isolated both physically and spiritually for many years. Their physical isolation has preserved their distinctive cultural traditions and their hostility to outside influence has preserved a religion that is a combination of the national religion and their own ancient practices which recognize a supreme deity.
Because the people are hostile to missionary work and there were no known believers when the work first began, the first contacts were made through a medical ministry in 1994. In 1997 believers from the same country did a survey of the language and culture. One member of the survey team felt called to translate the Bible into Girondo with the support of a doctor and his wife who are currently doing literacy work.
- Pray for a spiritual breakthrough among the Girondo people. Pray that unbelievers working with the translation team will understand the Gospel and be saved.
- The team has had lots of problems lately with illness, etc., but have continued to persevere. Pray for health and continued encouragement for them.
