Daily Prayer: the Branchu-speaking people of Asia

736,000 speakers. About 300,000 Branchu speakers inhabit a mountainous region in South Asia but a considerable number of Branchu men work in cities or in the military. Most of the Branchu people practice a religion that involves frequent sacrifices to appease the spirits. They mix this traditional shamanism with a form of polytheism. However, a cultural revival among the Branchu people is transforming this traditional religion and culture. The current cultural revival is strongly anti-Christian. It has, however, motivated Christian believers to use this unique window to reach the Branchu people with God’s Word in their own language. the translators have drafted all of the New Testament and the books are in various stages of checking and revision. Some have already been distributed in trial form. The team is also distributing some gospel tracts, the JESUS film, a Branchu hymnal and literacy materials. Project Goal: New Testament with Old Testament portions.

  • Pray that the team can make needed improvements and final changes to Romans.
  • John’s Gospel and 1, 2 and 3 John is in print Pray for a solution to problems related to the use of different fonts and scripts when printed by the computers.
  • Pray that God will boost the morale of the Branchu team, many of whom feel discouraged. Pray for wisdom to know what they’ll do when the New Testament is finished.
