Daily Prayer: the Amarisi-speaking people of Timor
60,000 Christian farmers who desire to have God’s Word in their language. While literacy is widespread in the Amarasi area, most reading and writing has been limited to the national language of Indonesian. Today over 99% of the Amarasi people call themselves Christian, and 75,000 of them claim membership in the major Protestant denomination. But in order to grow in their faith, these believers need Scripture they can understand. This project will provide the New Testament and Genesis for Amarasi people in their heart language. Translators will use the related language of Kupang Malay as a source text. Project fully funded.
- Praise God that the junior consultant is being trained to fill part of the ongoing need for consultants in the region.
- Pray particularly that the team will remain alert and responsive during the consultant check of the 1 & 2 Thesalonians, 1 & 2 Timothy, Titus, and James so that any misunderstanding or mistranslation will be revealed and corrected.
- A translator hopes to travel to Darwin, Australia, in February to spend unhindered time working with the project advisor to translate Luke and Revelation. Pray for smooth processing of the visa and other travel documents that will be necessary.
