Daily Prayer: the Mantive-speaking people of Southeast Asia

544,000 people in eight language groups; believers face strong political and religious opposition. The 8 languages involved are: Raba, Uchu, Ere, Yar, Oko, Gom, Iro and Gest. Outsiders who desire to translate the Bible are generally denied access to this country, but God has raised up mother-tongue translators who are willing to risk their lives to bring His Word to their people. Translators from six of the languages, Uchu, Yar, Gest, Ere, Gom and Iro, are working on the NT, while the two other languages, Oko and Raba, translators are working on OT.

  • Thank the Lord that the Oko Old Testament done by the national missionary is getting close to publication. A big question for the Oko team is whether or not the Old Testament translation they’ve been reviewing is a viable project anymore. Pray that God will give clear guidance and discernment to the Oko team regarding the future of the separate translation that they’ve been working on.
  • Pray that God will enable the Uchu team to sort out dialect issues so that they can speed up the translation work.
  • Pray for these teams who are working with severe opposition both political and religious. Pray that God will intervene when the process gets slowed down, so that it will not stop. Pray all 8 will meet their goals.
