Daily Prayer: the Majukayong-speaking people of Philippines

10,000 speakers, the majority of whom are small-scale farmers who subsist by wet rice farming and the slash-and-burn method of farming. The people are hospitable and peace loving, but they can be fierce fighters when they are provoked. They hold revenge as a high cultural value and feel humiliated if they are not able to avenge hurts or deaths. The Majukayong live according to a syncretistic mix of “Christian” ritual and animism. Project is fully partnered!

  • Thank the Lord that Luke’s Gospel is steadily making its way through the translation steps. Pray that Jesus’ words and deeds in Luke will fall on receptive minds and hearts in the Majukayong community.
  • Praise God that after some delays Revelation will soon be evaluated by a consultant and approved for publication. Pray that this review will take place on schedule.
  • Pray that many Majukayong people will become grounded in the vernacular Scriptures so that they’ll have a solid understanding of its true message.
