Daily Prayer: the Lugungu-speaking people of Uganda
49,000 speakers who live along the Nile River and the shore of Lake Albert. The Bagungu people call their language Lugungu. The Anglican and Catholic churches have been present among the Bagungu for decades, but only a few of the people are active, practicing Christians today. The rest of the population continues to practice traditional animistic religion, often mixing certain Christian beliefs with their animism. The Bagungu translation team is currently drafting portions of the Old and New Testaments into Lugungu, and they are working on the JESUS film.
- As the team continues translating portions of Scripture, pray that the consultant, who lives in politically turbulent Kenya, can travel safely to Uganda. Pray that the Scripture reviewing sessions in March will achieve the desired results.
- A newcomer is learning skills for his new role as back-translator. He’s currently receiving training to use the computer program Adapt-It, which will help him produce back-translations. Pray that he can increase his efficiency in typing and using the computer.
- Please pray for complete recovery for one team member who continues taking strong medication for his heart condition, and has noted progress in his health recently.
