Daily Prayer: the Julam-speaking people of South Asia
50,000 speakers, primarily animists who are subsistence farmers and laborers. In 1981, an evangelist from a different language group introduced them to the gospel, and 20 people became believers. They recognize they need a translation in their language. A husband and wife team from another part of India have committed to translating God’s Word for the Julam people.
- Praise God that the Julam team completed the back-translations of 1 and 2 Thessalonians and that the consultant was able to review these epistles. Pray that the words of Paul in 1 and 2 Thessalonians will spur on the Julam believers to missionary zeal and good works.
- They’ve been working steadily on 1 and 2 Timothy, Titus and Philemon the first nine chapters of Mark. All these books along with James (a total of eight books) will soon be in the hands of people, who will then read and check the translation for naturalness and clarity. Pray that these eight NT books in trial print will do the double duty of both spiritually blessing the readers and also providing a means for making the translation better.
- Pray that God will continue to empower His workers on the Julam team against the adversities that He allows to cross their paths. Pray that He’ll enable them to handle the large workload that’s before them.
