Daily Prayer: the Jenjo-speaking people of Nigeria
20,131 Speakers for whom literacy and development programs will facilitate Scripture use, foster revival and fuel evangelism. The Good News first came to the Jenjo through missionaries in the 1940s. Today, about 35% claim faith in Christ. Eight Christian denominations have established work among the Jenjo. About 10% follow another major world religion while the rest practice traditional animistic beliefs. Local churches have agreed to cooperate together in the project. They are very motivated to resist pressure from another major religion and to strengthen the church. Four MTT speakers are committed as translators. Project Goal: New Testament with some OT portions
- Pray for the 4 MT translators who have already taken some basic training for their task. This month, they will receive specialized training on computer tools specific to Bible translation. Pray for diligence and encouragement.
- Because very few of the Jenjo can read, pray for a good, strategic plan for literacy and development as the project progresses.
- Pray for the translators and their families—farmers who manage a living from their land—but poverty plagues them.
