175,000 speakers - As in most of the country of Nigeria, poverty is severe among the Huba. The Huba first learned about Christ in 1921. Today, 90% of the Huba community consider themselves Christian. The other 10% practice another major faith or traditional African religion. From 1972-1976, an expatriate team completed some basic linguistic research in Huba. Since that time, motivated Huba speakers have done some preliminary translation work without training or input, drafting Luke and preparing text for the JESUS film.
