Daily Prayer: the Girondo-speaking people of India
6,000 speakers, isolated hill people who have resisted the Gospel for many years. Because the people are antagonistic toward missionary work and there are no known believers, the first contacts with the Girondo people were made through a medical ministry that began in 1994. In 1997 Indian believers did a survey of the Girondo language and culture. One member of this survey team has felt called to translate the Bible into Girondo with the support of a doctor and his wife who are currently doing literacy work. $8,195 still needed.
- Praise God that the Girondo team is taking Philemon and James quickly through the translation steps. Pray that a consultant will be available to check both books.
- A Girondo youth with a 5th grade education seems to be God’s choice for another translator. Pray that this new Girondo mother-tongue translator will learn the ropes quickly and prove to be a valuable member of the team.
- Praise God for the good progress the translator made on the Girondo dictionary despite the shortage of help.
