Daily Prayer: the Foothills-speaking people of Colombia
14,300 speakers— people in a difficult situation where expatriate teams have been unable to succeed. A young mother-tongue translator hopes to provide scriptures for his people. The main goal is to translate and publish the New Testament along with some Old Testament portions. A young new Christian has felt God’s call on his life to translate the Scriptures for his people. The Foothills people have been closed to the gospel in the past. There is a Colombian missionary that has been working there for a while. Now, there are around 150 Foothills Christians. The Foothills speakers are proud of their own language and culture. New believers need God’s word in the language that speaks to their heart.
- The Foothills team is pleased to report that they finished reviewing the book of Acts. This was done in Bogotá and took two weeks. Pray they Bible Society will help in the publication since the people are eager for it.
- 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus have been translated, in answer to prayer. Timothy has been consultant checked. Pray for the translator as he translates 1 and 2 Thessalonians.
- The team has experienced some setbacks in getting a literacy primer ready—Pray that God will motivate Foothills people to learn to read, using this primer and be ready for God’s translated Word.
