Dadiya of Nigeria

This Dadiya project builds on a successfully completed Luke Partnership Project finished in 2008 - part of the Gombe Cluster. That project helped train the translators as well as providing the Gospel of Luke and the JESUS film for the Dadiya community. Church leaders recognize the need for the full New Testament and portions of the Old Testament for discipleship and growth of believers and for follow-up with those who come to Christ through the film. Today, about 40% of the Dadiya speakers are Christians. About the same percentage are members of another worldwide faith, while some follow traditional African religion. The Dadiya community and some neighboring groups are embroiled in an ongoing land dispute. Homes have been burned; some families have endured significant loss. However, members of teams from conflicting language groups meet together for translation workshops. The power of God’s Word is evidenced as they live, work and pray together in love. The team members are seeking reconciliation between their communities.

  • Pray for partners who will pray and invest in this project started in ‘09 and planned to finish 2013.

  • Pray that the ongoing land disputes can be resolved and pray for the protection of the translation team.
