Aramaic M-North speakers of East Mediterranean

Christians and non-believers are hungry to know the “Jesus” in the “JESUS” film!

This is what the LORD Almighty says: Judge fairly and honestly, and show mercy and kindness to one another. (Zechariah 7:9, NLT)

Clergy members among the Aramaic M-North speakers of East Mediterranean are eager for the completion of the Old Testament in their language. They’ve already welcomed the New Testament, which was translated in 2008. Christians in 13 different churches now look forward to seeing their culture reclaimed for Christ. The “JESUS” film opened the door for evangelism and discipleship. Though some of these people are devotees of another major religion, both Christians and non-believers are hungry to know more about the Jesus in the film.

Christians suffer persecution, both from governments in this area and from individuals who are hostile to their faith. The translators hope the Old Testament will open doors of communication between Christians and their contemptuous neighbors. They also want to see the church grow deeper in understanding and in evangelistic fervor.

  • Pray for the translators as they faithfully labor on the book of Exodus. The team is separated by thousands of miles and many time zones. Pray that any computer problems will be resolved so progress won’t be slowed.
  • Pray for the translators as they endeavor to make God’s covenant promises come alive for the people in their own language. Pray as they take the completed books of Genesis and Psalms through later steps in the translation process.
  • The translators are involved in an eight-year project to complete the entire Old Testament in their language. Pray for them in this monumental work.
