Amarasi of Timor
While literacy is widespread in the Amarasi area, most reading and writing has been limited to the national language of Indonesian. Today over 99% of the Amarasi people call themselves Christian, and many claim membership in the major Protestant denomination. But in order to grow in their faith, these believers need Scripture they can understand. This project will provide the New Testament and Genesis for Amarasi people in their heart language. Translators will use the related language of Kupang Malay as a source text.

Thessalonians, Timothy, Titus and James were recently sent to Jakarta for printing. Thank God for this step forward in preparing manuscripts for publication, and pray that administrators can work out any weak links in the desktop publishing process.
-
Pray now that the translators can complete the community comprehension testing of the material, and that they will receive helpful feedback to improve the translation.

Praise God for heightened interest in the translation. A member of the local district council bought ten books of Acts to give away as prizes to ten people.
