Tharaka OT | Tharaka Ot

God is clearly at work among the Tharaka people. Ever since the Tharaka first heard of Jesus in the 1930s, they’ve grown in their recognition of the importance of following Jesus. But the creation of written forms for the Tharaka language and the completion of the New Testament in 2001 were giant steps forward for these 112,000 people across Kenya.
Seed Company partners, many of whom invested in the New Testament translation, have a unique opportunity to help the same team complete the work. The Old Testament will provide context for the New Testament and will serve as an encouragement for these people who face similar problems of drought, famine and the harsh farming conditions.

Tharaka of Kenya
Excitement is in the air. After the publication of the New Testament, Tharaka people (pop. 112,000) now eagerly await the translation of the Old Testament, slated to be completed in 2012. The Tharaka translators are encouraged by the sustained use of the New Testament in church worship, open-aired Christian meetings and house-to-house evangelism. They also see it making a real difference in personal, family and group devotions. - Nov10
