Samburu NT Cluster

Languages participating in this cluster:
- Samburu
- Ilchamus
God is moving among the Samburu people and the related Ilchamus people who have resisted the Gospel for some fifty years. In the last eight to ten years, God has opened up the hearts of more Samburu people and in the last six years Ilchamus people have begun to follow Christ. Church leaders face unique challenges in bringing the Gospel to this group though. Many are nomadic and existing translations in the related Maasai language use words that are vulgar to the Samburu and Ilchamus.
This project leverages the energy of the local church, the presence of Bible Translation and Literacy Association – Kenya (BTL), the expert consultants of SIL and the financial and prayer backing of Seed Company partners. The goal is to complete the adaptation of two New Testaments from the Maasai translation.

Samburu and Ilchamus languages of Kenya
As nomadic pastoralists, the Samburu and Ilchamus people respect the work of a shepherd. Pray that many Samburu and Ilchamus, whose combined population is about 200,000, will come to know the Good Shepherd as their personal Savior. - May04
