Quechua OT Cluster | Huaylas
This language group is participating in the Quechua OT Cluster project.
Huaylas is one of seven related languages within the Quechua group of Peru. There are approximately 300,000 speakers of Huaylas awaiting the Old Testament. The project is using Computer Assisted Related Language Adaptation (CARLA) software to adapt a completed draft of the Old Testament from one of the other languages into a rough draft of Huaylas. CARLA expedites much of the work formerly done by translators, but several steps are taken to ensure accuracy and readability of the Scripture. By the end of 2010, Huaylas and each of the six other languages within Quechua should have a completed draft of the Old Testament.
